since ＆ for

"since" 和 "for" 与时间有关的用法不同：1、since 要与时间点一起使用，例如Mondy、January 和 2009；2、for 它与时间段一起使用，例如 30 minutes、6 months 和 10 years。3、"for" 它可以用于所有时态，但是 "since" 一般用于完成。

例:① He jogs for 1 hour everyday.这句话中 "for" 后面跟着一段时间。② He's been jogging since 7 am.这句话中 "since" 后面跟着一个时间点。

fewer ＆less

"fewer" 和 "less" 适用的名词类型完全相反：1、"fewer" 适用于可数名词，例如books、cars、people 或是 cups.2、"less" 例如，适用于不可数名词，love、water、electricity 或是 information.

例:

① This parking lot is too crowded. I wish there were fewer cars.语句中的 car 这是一个可数名词，所以在前面使用 "fewer" 装饰。② I wish you would turn off the lights, so we could use less electricity.这儿的 electricity 它是一个不可数的名词，所以使用它 "less" 来修饰。

介词by的用法

1、 意指“在……旁边，近。Some are singing and dancing under a big tree。Some are drawing by the lake。有的在树下唱歌。有的在湖边画画。

2、意指不迟……时为止”。Your son will be all right by supper time。晚饭前你儿子会好的。How many English songs had you learned by the end of last term？上学期末你学了多少英语歌？

3、表示方法、方法，可以翻译为靠、用、凭、通过、乘坐等。The monkey was hanging from the tree by his tail and laughing。猴子用尾巴挂在树上大笑。The boy’s father was so thankful that he taught Edison how to send messages by railway telegraph。孩子的父亲非常感激，所以他教爱迪生如何通过铁路电报传递信息。

4、表示逐一、逐批的意思。One by one they went past the table in the dark。在黑暗中，他们一个接一个地经过这张桌子。

5、表示根据、根据的含义。What time is it by your watch？你的表几点了？

6、和take ， hold等动词联合使用，表示触摸人体的某一部分。I took him by the hand。我握住他的手。

7、被动句用于表示主体，常翻译为被、由等。English is spoken by many people。很多人说英语。

动名词（doing）

动名词相当于名词

能做主语、宾语、表语、定语等。

1、作主语

Fighting broke out between the South and the North。南北之战。2、作宾语Would you mind turning down your radio a little， please？请问您是否在意调低收音机的声音？3、作表语Babysister’s job is washing，cooking and taking care of the children。保姆的工作是洗衣服、做饭和照顾孩子。4、做定语a washing machine 一台洗衣机
